Football Recap: Cook Comes Up Short

Cook lost against Cairo back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hornets were outmatched by the Syrupmakers and fell 42-12. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Despite the defeat, Cook saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dawson Davis rushed for 102 yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Cook and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Cairo, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Cook has already played their next contest, a 38-0 win against Irwin County on the 19th. As for Cairo, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. The Syrupmakers will be up against the Bearcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.2 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
