Football Recap: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Coventry Oakers
East Greenwich was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 40-6 defeat at the hands of the Coventry Oakers. The Avengers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Oakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.
Despite the defeat, East Greenwich saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Spencer Padula rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown. Padula's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
East Greenwich's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Coventry, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.
East Greenwich does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coventry, they will challenge Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Johnston has lost three straight at home , while Coventry has lost seven on the road (dating back to last season).
