Baseball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon was the 7-6 winner over Zionsville when they last played one another on Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Orioles fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.

Kail Tislow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Caleb Wessel made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Mitchell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Avon dropped their record down to 10-13-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Zionsville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will welcome Covenant Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Zionsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Center Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
