Baseball Recap: Maury Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Maury proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Booker T. Washington Mighty Bookers a 1-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in April.

Maury's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Booker T. Washington, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maury will venture away from home to square off against Landstown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Commodores 2.2, the Eagles 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Booker T. Washington, they will square off against Lake Taylor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Mighty Bookers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
