Volleyball Recap: Santa Barbara Takes a Loss

Santa Barbara suffered their biggest defeat since September 2nd on Friday. They came up short against the Clovis East Timberwolves, falling 3-0. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Santa Barbara was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 25-19.

Kira Elliot paced Santa Barbara's offense, picking up nine kills. Elliot got some help from Jules Horton and her 26 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clovis East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayda Phasakda, who had 17 assists and seven digs. That's the most assists Phasakda has posted over her last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Allyson Rich, who had seven digs and five aces.

Santa Barbara's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Clovis East, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Santa Barbara didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Dos Pueblos on the 26th. As for Clovis East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Buchanan on the 26th.
