Baseball Game Preview: Crescent City Raiders vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

The Crescent City Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Crescent City is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Taylor on Thursday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Raiders have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Andrew Roosa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir lost 15-5 to Forest on Thursday.

Chapter Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Weir's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Landen Courtney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lake Weir's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crescent City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Crescent City suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Lake Weir in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Crescent City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
