Basketball Recap: Islamic Foundation Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Islamic Foundation and Yorkville Christian, and Yorkville Christian kept the tradition alive. The Chargers were beaten by the Mustangs 91-34 on Tuesday. The Chargers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Jayden Riley had another great game (as he tends to do), almost dropping a double-double with 13 assists and nine steals for Yorkville Christian. Those nine steals gave Riley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Wells, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 12 points and four steals.

Islamic Foundation's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Yorkville Christian, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Islamic Foundation will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on MCC at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026. As for Yorkville Christian, they will challenge Lemont at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
