Kaplan (La.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 17 points, drop to 10 before the final whistle blew on a 47-37 victory over
Erath (La.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Devonte Davis to
Kerry Kass in the second quarter, the Pirates were up 20-14 at the half.
Kaplan expanded its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. KHS scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Davis.
Kaplan's Davis scored two touchdowns on the ground in the victory.
Erath (2-6) will play a 3A District 6 game against West St. Mary next week, while Kaplan (6-2) will take on Abbeville also in a 3A District 6 game.
