West Aurora had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Aurora East on Monday. The Blackhawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tomcats a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Blackhawks, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The win was the third in a row for West Aurora, bringing their record up to 11-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Aurora East, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Aurora beat the Tomcats by a score of 18-0 later that day.
