Basketball Game Preview: Highlands Bluebirds vs. Notre Dame Academy Pandas

The Highlands Bluebirds will be taking part in a tournament against the Notre Dame Academy Pandas at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Highlands' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Highlands will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Ryle, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Highlands took down Ryle 67-50 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy strolled past St. Henry with points to spare on Sunday, taking the game 40-25. Given the Pandas' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Crusaders are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points over those games. The victory made it two in a row for Notre Dame Academy and bumps their season record up to 21-7.

Highlands came up short against Notre Dame Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 49-37. Can Highlands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
