Basketball Recap: Regan Edstrom's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Platte Valley over Wray

Platte Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost to the Wray Eagles on the road by a 71-55 margin. Even though they lost, the Broncos' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Regan Edstrom, who on his way to 26 points and three steals. What's more, Edstrom also posted a 63% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Rocco Minner was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Aaron Tena continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wray, to rack up 18 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Wray is 4-2 when Tena posts five or more steals, but 5-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryson Lewis, who en route to 14 points.

Platte Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Wray, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-13.

Platte Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-29 win against Wiggins on the 25th. As for Wray, they will challenge Brush at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
