Basketball Recap: Evergreen Christian Comes Up Short

Evergreen Christian was the 86-74 winner over Riverdale Baptist when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Evergreen Christian Eagles fell 78-67 to the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders on Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Evergreen Christian lost, don't look at Jackson Britt. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 19 on his way to 23 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, Britt is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Cole Forbrich was another key player, putting up eight points.

Ean McLaughlin had an outrageously good game for Riverdale Baptist as he went 5 of 9 to rack up 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. That's the most steals McLaughlin has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cannon Greene, who went 8 for 12 en route to 20 points.

Evergreen Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-12 record this season. As for Riverdale Baptist, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-8.

Evergreen Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 89-59 loss against Bishop Ireton on the 4th. As for Riverdale Baptist, they have also already played their next matchup, a 75-71 victory against New Hope Academy National on the 4th.
