Baseball Recap: Hamden Hall Country Day Takes Down Hopkins in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Hamden Hall Country Day had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Hopkins Hilltoppers on Friday. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by just one run.

Jey Scanlon was excellent, earning two runs and two stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Hamden Hall Country Day's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Leo Dottori, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Hamden Hall Country Day, bringing their record up to 16-12. As for Hopkins, they moved to 14-11 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Hamden Hall Country Day nor the Hilltoppers have any future games scheduled.
