Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Wichita County Indians

Stanton County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Wichita County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stanton County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, a fact Stanton County proved. They strolled past Springfield with points to spare, taking the game 71-54.

Stanton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryan Callegas led the charge by scoring 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Callegas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gerardo Robles, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wichita County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They fell 57-48 to Southwestern Heights. That's two games in a row now that Wichita County has lost by exactly nine points.

Stanton County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Wichita County, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Stanton County came up short against Wichita County in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 54-45. Can Stanton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
