Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Spartans vs. Monessen Greyhounds

The St. Joseph Spartans will face off against the Monessen Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Monessen is facing St. Joseph at the wrong time: St. Joseph suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They had to suffer through a 64-31 loss at the hands of the Eagles. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monessen). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Environmental Charter 74-33. The Greyhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Monessen's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4. As for St. Joseph, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.
