Football Game Preview: Hunterdon Central Red Devils vs. Old Bridge Knights

The Hunterdon Central Red Devils will face off against the Old Bridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Hunterdon Central is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Red Devils wound up with the same score they had in their last game (28-7), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Red Devil recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, Old Bridge came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over the Falcons. Give the Knights' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Hunterdon Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Old Bridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Hunterdon Central was dealt a bruising 35-8 loss at the hands of Old Bridge in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Knights' Brody Nugent, who rushed for 162 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 92 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Now that the Red Devils know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
