Grossmont - Valley recap Oct. 16, 2012
Mount Miguel moved up to 279 from 338 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Grossmont - Valley. The Matadors were able to make the jump by topping El Cajon Valley 46-13.
Mount Miguel took down the Braves 46-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brad Moreno threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 10 yards and caught one passes for 19 yards in the win.
Rashad Harper was the best wideout in the league this week as Shaun McDade's team defeated El Cajon Valley. Harper tallied two receptions for 73 yards. D'Ayronn Hartfield helped Mount Miguel's passing attack out by catching two balls for 73 yards.
Gabe Kruse threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He was 14-28 with one interceptions.
Tony Dozier was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 184 yards on 21 carries as the Matadors topped Norman Whitehead's team.
Santana's Kruse and Tyler Browning have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Grossmont - Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Kruse has thrown for 896 yards this season, while Browning, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 33 catches for 462 yards. Dozier from Mount Miguel leads the league in rushing with 1110 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when El Capitan takes on Monte Vista. The Vaqueros are currently in third, while the Monarchs are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when the Matadors and the Sultans face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Mount Miguel comes in having scored 193 this season, while Santana has scored 126. The Matadors scored 46 points last week as they bested the Braves.
