Preview: South Lenoir Blue Devils vs. East Duplin Panthers
The South Lenoir Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the East Duplin Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Lenoir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while East Duplin is ranked 69th).
South Lenoir suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Kinston on the road and fell 56-25. South Lenoir has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Lenoir's loss came about despite a quality game from Lexy Heath, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Heath grabbed two or more steals.
Meanwhile, East Duplin waltzed into their game on Monday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They strolled past Swansboro with points to spare, taking the game 53-36.
South Lenoir has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for East Duplin, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
South Lenoir skirted past East Duplin 26-23 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Lenoir since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
