Baseball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Metro Tech Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.

Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alan Gasperin, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Gasperin has hit this season.

As for Metro Tech, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-10 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Metro Tech's side, they let Omar Arguelles and Jesus Casas run wild. Arguelles went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Casas went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave Casas a new career-high. Ramon Leon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Central has already played their next contest, a 15-1 loss against North on the 28th. As for Metro Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-11 victory against Sierra Linda on the 25th.
