Football Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Dixon Dukes & Duchesses

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Genoa-Kingston will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Rock Falls on Friday. The Cogs breezed past the Rockets to the tune of 62-6. That 56 point margin sets a new team best for the Cogs this season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Dixon's strategy against Streator on Friday. The Dukes & Duchesses never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 65-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Dukes & Duchesses as they're now sitting on six straight.

Genoa-Kingston better keep an eye on Landon Knigge. He was instrumental in Dixon's win, rushing for 177 yards and five TDs on only 13 carries. Thanks to that big game, Knigge is now up to 17 rushing touchdowns on the season.

The victory got Genoa-Kingston back to even at 4-4. As for Dixon, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Genoa-Kingston was dealt a bruising 40-7 loss at the hands of Dixon in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Cogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
