Basketball Recap: Slade Salinas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Boerne over Smithson Valley

Boerne was the 48-47 winner over Smithson Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Boerne Greyhounds fell 67-59 to the Smithson Valley Rangers on Friday.

Several Greyhounds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Slade Salinas, who went 5 of 8 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Those 17 points gave Salinas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Hendrix, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points.

Boerne has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season. As for Smithson Valley, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Boerne will host Boerne-Champion at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Boerne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. Smithson Valley has already played their next contest (against Pieper), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
