Fans got a thrill when Burt Chappell and Donald Jr. LaFleur connected against Bryant. The longest such play in 6A Region 1 this season, the connection resulted in 75 yards.
Murphy added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Montgomery, 41-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Panthers.
Sam Dixon was a beast in the backfield as Murphy beat the Vikings.
Harry Satterwhite threw for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 15-30 with 3 interceptions.
Chris Knowles was the best receiver in the league this week as McGill-Toolen lost to Blount. Knowles tallied 5 receptions for 114 yards. Wil Young helped McGill-Toolen's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 74 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Satterwhite of the Yellowjackets is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,147. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kameron Maye. The Murphy star has 31 catches for 558 yards.
An important game coming up in 6A Region 1 this week will be when Ronn Lee's team takes on Baker. At the moment, the Panthers are in first, while the Hornets are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Murphy takes on Baker. The Panthers have allowed 89 points this season, while Jack French's team has given up 76. Murphy allowed 7 points last week as it beat Montgomery.
The Leopards and McGill-Toolen played the closest game in the league this week, with the Leopards eventually emerging with a 25-23 victory.
