Softball Recap: Sherman Has No Trouble Against Van

Sherman won the last time they faced Van and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tide put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 victory. Considering the Tide have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Makayla Harless spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Emma Russell and Summer Harvey did most of the damage at the plate: Russell went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Harvey went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Harvey has posted over her last four matchups. Savannah Drake was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Sherman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sherman is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Van, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

Sherman wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-0 defeat against St. Marys on the 2nd. As for Van, they have also already played their next match, a 13-1 loss against Greenbrier West on the 2nd.
