Football Game Preview: East View Patriots vs. Leander Lions

The East View Patriots will head out to take on the Leander Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

East View easily dispatched Chaparral last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Patriots fell just short of Rouse by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The Patriots have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cormyc Guerrero, who rushed for 60 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 197 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Sam Williams, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 46-7, which was the final score in Leander's tilt against Cedar Park on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 143rd).

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Ke'Marion Gordon and Trae Samuel Frost Hill. Samuel Frost Hill had a great game and rushed for 202 yards and three scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Gordon was balling out in the loss, rushing for 86 yards, while also throwing for 185 yards on 15 of 27 attempts.

East View's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Leander, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

East View beat Leander 35-28 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Lions' Mason Montgomery, who picked up 61 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 93 yards and one TD.
