Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Skyline Falcons
The Roosevelt Roughriders lost against the Skyline Falcons back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Roosevelt's rough 62-37 loss to Skyline might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roosevelt in their matchups with Skyline: they've now lost eight in a row.
Seppe Salvatore and Nolan Peterson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Salvatore scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Peterson scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Salvatore's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Skyline found their leader in underclassman Diego Kheng, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Kheng hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Cameren Sanchez, who scored 13 points.
Roosevelt's loss was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Skyline, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
Roosevelt won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Thompson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Thompson Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverdale Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Skyline in Colorado (Riverdale Ridge is ranked 42nd, while Skyline is ranked 217th).
