Basketball Recap: Riverdale Drops Season-High Score on Mt. Zion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale). They put the hurt on the Mt. Zion Bulldogs with a sharp 74-53 win on Tuesday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Riverdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylen Allen, who went 9 of 17 to rack up 23 points. That's the most points Allen has posted since back in November of 2024. Tre Smith also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Riverdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Jaylon Sankey, who earned 14 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Scarlett, who scored eight points.

Riverdale now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mt. Zion, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22.

Riverdale has already played their next matchup, a 44-39 victory against North Clayton on the 7th. Mt. Zion has also already played their next game (against Stephenson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
