Volleyball Recap: New Canaan Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

New Canaan hadn't done well against Staples recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Wreckers 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won six contests in a row dating back to last season.

New Canaan was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-101), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 15-25, 17-25, 25-23, 15-6.

Julia Olesnevich paced New Canaan's offense, picking up 19 kills. Olesnevich got some help from Yume Duncan and her 46 assists. Mia Lockyer controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

New Canaan's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Staples, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. New Canaan will take on rival Norwalk at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Staples is set to challenge their familiar foe Darien at 4:00 p.m. on the 27th.
