Basketball Recap: Giada Falco Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Woodlands Academy

Schaumburg Christian lost to Woodlands Academy back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Schaumburg Christian Conquerors managed a 45-40 win over the Woodlands Academy Wildcats.

Schaumburg Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giada Falco out in front who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Falco is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games she's played. Elizabeth Tomasek was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Schaumburg Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Woodlands Academy still got an impressive performance from Dyana Santoyo, who posted 23 points along with eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Santoyo a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Janos, who earned five points and seven rebounds.

Schaumburg Christian's record now sits at 6-13. As for Woodlands Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Schaumburg Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-47 win against Families of Faith Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Woodlands Academy, they have also already played their next match, a 35-15 victory against MCC on the 15th.
