Baseball Recap: Northwest Catholic's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Northwest Catholic hadn't done well against Simsbury recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Lions never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Trojans on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-0 defeat.

Not much got past Thomas Cerreta, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Simsbury off the board. Cerreta also tossed a walk, which is notable because Northwest Catholic is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jonah Balcerzak was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Andrew Mikan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northwest Catholic's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Simsbury, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.
