Basketball Recap: William Cacy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arapahoe over Hitchcock County

Arapahoe was the 58-43 winner over Hitchcock County when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Arapahoe Warriors took a 61-46 bruising from the Hitchcock County Falcons on Saturday.

Arapahoe lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being William Cacy, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Cacy is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Eli Shafer was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Arapahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Arapahoe has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Hitchcock County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Arapahoe will venture away from home to face off against Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season. As for Hitchcock County, they will be playing at home against Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
