Basketball Recap: Brocton Comes Up Short

Brocton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt an 87-42 defeat at the hands of the Westfield Wolverines. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.

Leading Westfield to victory were Carson Swanson and Zach Maguire. Swanson dropped a double-double with 39 points and 16 assists, while Maguire shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Swanson has scored at least a third of Westfield's points. Another player making a difference was Grant Beadle, who posted eight points and five boards.

Brocton's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brocton will venture away from home to take on Frewsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Sherman at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
