Basketball Game Preview: Patel Trailblazers vs. St. Petersburg Catholic Barons

The Patel Trailblazers will venture away from home to take on the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Patel is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game back in December of 2024. They were dealt an 82-23 defeat at the hands of Mitchell. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Mustangs are ranked 156th).

Xiomari Matthews was Patel's leading scorer, having posted nine points.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Land O' Lakes. The game marked the first time this year in which the Barons were not able to get on the board.

St. Petersburg Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Patel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Patel took a serious blow against St. Petersburg Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 64-26. Can Patel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
