Baseball Recap: Matanzas Comes Up Short

Matanzas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 14-3 to the Father Lopez Green Wave. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Wave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in February.

Paul Trettner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wiley Connor, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Father Lopez, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Matanzas and Father Lopez will both be playing Seabreeze the next time they take the field. The Pirates will head out to face the Sandcrabs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Green Wave will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
