Softball Game Preview: Cameron Dragons vs. Trinity Christian Warriors

The Cameron Dragons will face off against the Trinity Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cameron's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cameron came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to Frontier.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Tygarts Valley a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Paige Hopkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Hopkins was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Moore, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Josalyn Phillips was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Trinity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Trinity Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Cameron, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Cameron suffered a grim 14-6 defeat to Trinity Christian in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
