Softball Game Preview: Baylor Red Raiders vs. Silverdale Academy Seahawks

The Baylor Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Silverdale Academy Seahawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Baylor comes in on five and Silverdale Academy on three.

On Thursday, Baylor made easy work of Cleveland and carried off a 10-1 win. Considering the Red Raiders have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Silverdale Academy posted their closest victory since March 6th on Tuesday. They skirted past Boyd-Buchanan 3-1.

Airebis Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabriella Hensley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jaliyah Whitaker was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Baylor pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Silverdale Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-3-1.

Baylor couldn't quite finish off Silverdale Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Red Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
