Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Yorktown's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Yorktown extended their postseason success on Thursday against Hamilton Heights. They blew past the Huskies 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Jaromin was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ava Aul, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Yorktown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Yorktown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Yorktown nor Hamilton Heights have any future games scheduled.
