Basketball Recap: Jack Cole's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Seeger over South Vermillion

Seeger came up into this matchup off a tough 27-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the South Vermillion Wildcats by a score of 74-72 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 48-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Cole, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Cooksey, who went 6 for 9 en route to 12 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Seeger was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Vermillion only racked up eight assists.

It was another big night for Aden Wallace, who went 11 of 19 on his way to 31 points along with six rebounds and six steals for South Vermillion. Wallace continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dallas Coleman, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Seeger and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for South Vermillion, the win also got them back to even at 5-5.

Seeger will head out to challenge Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seeger is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season. South Vermillion has already played their next matchup, a 58-43 defeat against Terre Haute North Vigo on the 13th.
