New Covenant is 2-8 against North Cross since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The New Covenant Gryphons will be playing at home against the North Cross Raiders at 7:00 p.m. New Covenant is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
New Covenant came up short against Hargrave Military Academy on Tuesday, falling 73-51.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rusty Hooks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Renalds, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, North Cross really took it to Virginia Episcopal School for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-41 win. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.
North Cross' win came from a few key players New Covenant will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jesiah Hines, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. The match was his 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Robinson, who went 8 for 9 en route to 18 points and eight boards.
North Cross pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for New Covenant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as New Covenant and North Cross are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. New Covenant hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.8 points per game. However, it's not like North Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging 71 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
New Covenant didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Cross in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-54 win. Will New Covenant repeat their success, or does North Cross have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
