Mountain Crest is 0-10 against Ridgeline since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mountain Crest Mustangs will welcome the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Crest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
Last Thursday, Mountain Crest came up short against Sky View and fell 57-47.
The losing side was boosted by Sage Walker, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lily Smith, who had seven points in addition to six assists and six boards.
Even though they lost, Mountain Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ridgeline put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 69-22 win over Bear River. The Riverhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Mountain Crest better keep an eye on Emilee Skinner. She was instrumental in Ridgeline's win, almost dropping a double-double on 33 points and nine boards. The game was Skinner's 37th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaydi Jenks, who put up two points along with eight assists and three steals.
Ridgeline's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.2 points per game. As for Mountain Crest, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mountain Crest has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mountain Crest was taken down by Ridgeline 73-12 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Skinner, who went 12 of 17 on her way to 29 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. Now that Mountain Crest knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
