Football Recap: Northern Durham Comes Up Short

Northern Durham lost against Hillside back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Knights were dealt a 49-6 loss at the hands of the Hornets. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Thomas McDermott threw for 70 yards and one TD. Isaiah Williams was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Xavier Stevenson went supernova For Hillside., throwing for 133 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 49 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Stevenson has posted since back in October of 2024. Tyler Williamson was in the mix as well, providing Hillside with two TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Northern Durham and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Hillside, their record is now 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Durham will host Riverside-Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hillside, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. The Hornets will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
