Baseball Game Preview: Tell City Marksmen vs. South Spencer Rebels

Tell City is 2-8 against South Spencer since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Marksmen are taking a road trip to challenge the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Tell City has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tell City managed to slip by Forest Park the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Marksmen came up short against the Rangers on Tuesday, falling 12-0. The Marksmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tell City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Schraner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, South Spencer waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Raiders.

The team relied heavily on Ty Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ty Mattingly, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

South Spencer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

South Spencer now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Tell City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Tell City suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to South Spencer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Marksmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
