Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Christian Victorious

Hillcrest Christian hadn't done well against Clinton Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hillcrest Christian Cougars walked away with a 55-48 victory over the Clinton Christian Academy Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 77-64 on December 3rd.

Hillcrest Christian had a senior duo take command as Jaivyn Carter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 22 boards and Jordan Johnson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. What's more, Carter also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Josiah Carpenter was another key player, putting up eight points.

Hillcrest Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Hillcrest Christian's record now sits at 7-5. As for Clinton Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Hillcrest Christian and Prairie View Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clinton Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Riverfield Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
