Football Game Preview: Perkins-Tryon Demons vs. Bristow Pirates

The Perkins-Tryon Demons will square off against the Bristow Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Perkins-Tryon is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lone Grove just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns.

Perkins-Tryon might have lost, but man, Wyatt Atkinson was a machine: he rushed for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Atkinson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 172 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Bristow came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past McLoud 48-14 on Thursday. The contest marked the Pirates' most dominant victory of the season.

Perkins-Tryon better focus on containing Promised Johnson and Shane Bethel as the pair were huge in Bristow's win. Johnson rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only nine carries, while Bethel rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. What's more, Johnson racked up 120.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Bristow's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Perkins-Tryon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Perkins-Tryon was able to grind out a solid victory over Bristow in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 42-35. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
