Basketball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cheyenne Mountain entered their tilt with Air Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Air Academy Kadets by a score of 59-46. Given the Red-Tailed Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Kadets are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheyenne Mountain got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cayden Cooper out in front who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Cooper's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Treglia, who had ten points along with five boards and five steals.

Brody Winnett and Levi Wyman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Winnett went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds, while Wyman earned 11 points and seven boards. Those eight rebounds gave Winnett a new career-high.

Cheyenne Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Air Academy, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne Mountain will challenge Discovery Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Air Academy, they will take on Palmer Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Air Academy is facing Palmer Ridge at the right time seeing as Palmer Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
