Basketball Recap: Machias Takes a Loss

After flying high against Schenck last Saturday, Machias came back down to earth. The Machias Bulldogs fell just short of the Calais Blue Devils by a score of 42-40 on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-28 back in December of 2024.

Machias' defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Calais, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Machias will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bangor Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Calais, they will head out to take on Sumner at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Calais is facing Sumner at the right time seeing as Sumner is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
