Basketball Recap: Kessler Blakita's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Canton over Northville

Canton suffered their closest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Northville Mustangs by a score of 53-51. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-52 back in January.

Several Cobras players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kessler Blakita, who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points and eight boards. Lem Pettway was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points.

Even though they lost, Canton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Northville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will host Hartland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canton has insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Northville, they will be playing at home against Plymouth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Plymouth has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Northville will come in with five straight wins.
