The Lutheran Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Lutheran barely beat Discovery Canyon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Thunder 3-0 on Thursday.
Lutheran was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-21.

Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madeline Miller, who had nine digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Miller a new career-high.
If Air Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cheyenne Mountain, they should've done a better job of containing Kaisa Dowd. The Red-Tailed Hawks blew past the Kadets 3-0 on Thursday for which the team can thank Dowd, who had six kills, five digs, and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last six games she's played.
The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-10.
Cheyenne Mountain's win came from a few key players Lutheran will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brynn Ressler, who had eight digs and two aces.
Cheyenne Mountain was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Lutheran's record now sits at 9-3. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Lutheran has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red-Tailed Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
