Basketball Recap: Las Animas Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Las Animas strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Elkhart Wildcats with a sharp 63-43 victory. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 68-55 loss the last time these two teams met.

Las Animas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jerome Ethridge led the charge by going 5-for-10 en route to 15 points along with six steals and five boards. Those six steals gave Ethridge a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Vargas, who posted 12 points.

Las Animas' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Elkhart, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Las Animas will be taking part in a tournament against Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elkhart, they will take on Cheyenne Wells in a tournament on Friday.
