Football Recap: La Jolla Country Day Puts Losing Streak Behind Them + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Army-Navy, La Jolla Country Day was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bishop's Knights 28-26. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Torreys were the better team in the second half.

La Jolla Country Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marvin Jones III, who rushed for 35 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 114 yards and one TD. Jones III also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles and defending one pass. James Picinich made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something La Jolla Country Day proved: they limited Bishop's to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. La Jolla Country Day didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Picinich, Quentin Cesaire, and Darius Nwagbuo picked up one apiece. Picinich got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bishop's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dane Larson, who picked up 110 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 65 yards.

With the victory, La Jolla Country Day broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Bishop's, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
