Baseball Game Preview: Midview Middies vs. Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

The Midview Middies will take on the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs in a tournament on Thursday. Midview will be strutting in after a victory while Olmsted Falls will be coming in after a defeat.

Midview took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Black River 8-2.

Daniel Melendez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Jacob Armburger looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

Back at the plate, Midview let Cason Pelko and Kaiden Vogelpohl run wild. Pelko went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Vogelpohl went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Harper, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Olmsted Falls came up short against Jackson on Tuesday, falling 11-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Olmsted Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Hrabnicky, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Midview is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Olmsted Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
